Racer Tested, Builder Approved

Auto connectors, parts and material should be simple to source and find. We've made the experience of buying automotive wiring material easy, sourcing only the best parts from our trusted suppliers.

Wiring, Controllers, Materials and Supplies for the Motorsports and DIY World

We see a gap in the electrical component market.

What started as two car guys coming together in a chance encounter, is now Hang Tight. The easiest place to buy all your automotive electrical connectors, wire, sheathing, loom and accessories. Oh, we also have that worlds first fully integrated, plug-and-play electric power steering micro-controller.

Developing the PSC

With Tyson's background in the Formula Drift scene as a trusted builder of wiring harnesses for many pro drifr teams, and Terence's love for road course and autocross racing, the constant abuse on mechanical power steering pumps was impacting our ability to build reliable steering systems for ourselves and our customers. This started a year long journey in building the most reliable microcontroller for Dodge, Mazda and Volvo mechanical electrical power steering pumps and Toyota Prius Electric Power Steering Column.

Plug And Play, Waterproof and Compatibale with Dodge, Volvo, Mazda and Toyota Electric Power STeering Solutions.

100% Plug and Play. No programming required.

The PSC is the worlds first fully plug and play OEM power steering controller. Hook up your Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS), power, ground and you're on your way.

Control with Potentiometer and ECU control

Banging off the limiter while drifting? Rock crawling up a steep climb in your 4x4? Control the hydraulic output of your power steering pump with optional potentiometer

IP68 RATED, FULLY POTTED, DURABLE WATERPROOF DESIGN.

Racing in the rain? Hitting the lake? Don't worry about it. The PSC is built to be water resistant, potted for extra protection.

Don't take our word for it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What pumps does the Hang Tight PSC currently support?
Dodge

Remote reservoir units

  • 2011-13 Dodge Durango, 3.6L V6
  • 2014-15 Dodge Durango, 3.6L V6
  • 2011-13 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 3.6L V6
  • 2018-20 Jeep Wrangler*** Support TBD

Integral reservoir units

  • 2011-15 Dodge Charger, 3.6L V8
  • 2011-15 Dodge Challenger, 3.6L V8
  • 2011-18 Chrysler 300, 3.6L V8
Mazda

2 connector pumps, integral reservoir. Medium strength pump. Great for classic conversions and lighter drift cars.

  • 2010-13 Mazda 3
  • 2010-13 Mazda 5
Toyota Electric Power Steering Column

Yaris, Corolla and Pruis all use them, making them a very common column unit. Great for classic conversions, lighter track cars or autoX cars that have short lap times. Will create heat during prolonged track use.

There is a shunt resistor that will turn off the unit when the temperature gets too high from the current draw. This can be bypassed for extreme uses, but user beware.

  • 2004-09 Prius/Corolla/Yaris - White connector
  • 2010-15 Prius/Corolla/Yaris - Black connector
Volvo

These pumps are medium strength, similar to Mazda. They can operate in limp mode without the CAN connected, but using a PSC you can control them same as the other units supported.

  • 2004-13 S30, S60
  • 2011-13 S60, C30, C70, V50, XC60

We're always adding support for more pumps and will keep our customers updated when firmware updates are available.

What is the peak amperage draw of an electric power steering pump?

Typically EPAS systems draw 30-40 amps after startup, and can draw as much as 100 amps on startup. It's important to have a stout electrical system in place before installing an EPAS system. The PSC micro-controller draws less than 1amp.

If you're building your own harness, it's recommended to run minimum 8awg wire for both the ground and power with an 80 amp fuse.

Our kits come with the correct wiring for the application, and need to be ran directly to battery, or to a source with a direct connection to battery.

How do I control the output of the PSC?

You can control the PSC with an optional potentiometer (available through Hang Tight), or using your own PDM/ECU combination. Controlling with a potentiometer is a nice option to quickly adjust the amount of assist in your steering. Going on a casual Sunday street drive? No problem, turn up the assist for easy driving.

Do you make a flying lead/pigtail for my application?

Yes - assembled in Canada by our in-house team, and only made with the best sourced connectors, wire and terminations.

Pre-order the PSC Today

We're currently doing pre-orders on our 3D printed, waterproof pre-production version of the PSC. Our pre-production version is a fully featured product that's as close to our future production unit as possible.
