2 years ago, Tyson and Terence came together to tackle a common problem in the automotive building sector. A lack of control over the quality and legitimacy in the electrical component market, as well as a lack of investment in the buying tools available to find and select the components you need.
We were both tired of buying off-brand components that lacked quality control, creating unsafe builds, and being difficult to work with.
Last year, we decided to tackle a common problem in the aftermarket world, Power Steering. A year later, we designed and developed the Hang Tight PSC, the worlds first fully plug and play OEM Electric Power Steering controller, and in a short time, has found it's way into builds by Ryan Tuerck, Tony Angelo, Matt Field and many on the Pro and Prospec Formula Drift grid.
Meet the Founders
With very different backgrounds, Tyson and Terence met on a chance encounter because of a shared interest in auto electrical. 2 years later and many days spent strategizing, Hang Tight was born.
Tyson Floris
Tyson's love for Drifting started the same way many Drift enthusiasts started. He built and honed his skills on his FC RX-7, learning the undocumented niche of drifting at the time. After years of driving in grassroots events, and the slowest speed flip ever recorded, he decided to focus on the building element of drifting.
A red seal electrician, Tyson decided to leave his stable career to start building wiring harnesses full time. Crazy, right? We all know there is no money or stability in building cars!
He quickly realized he had an in-demand skillset that people respected. With the shift to EFI and more complex electrical systems, Tyson flourished, honing his craft building detailed oriented, motorsport grade wiring harnesses for some of the most respected drivers in the amateur and pro circuits.
Tyson has worked with pro drivers like Matt Field, Zandara Kennedy and multiple amateur drivers around North America. He aims to share his knowledge and teach the next generation of builders how to do things the right way, the first time.
Terence Sawtell
Always a dreamer, Terence's love for cars started a very young age. Whether he was helping his dad wrench on his 80's Square body in the 90's, or smashing up hot wheels and building models, he always had a knack for putting (some) things back together.
For the past 10 years, he ran a UX/UI/Development agency called Goat, which suffered major losses due to the COVID pandemic (read about it here) and the ever-changing landscape of digital companies. He knew it was time to switch gears and apply his knowledge of digital services with his passion for building and racing cars.
Terence has always been vocal about the lack of innovation from a digital perspective in the auto sector, and Hang Tight was his chance to make that change.
While he's not working on Hang Tight, he's building his 1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass time-attack car, and spending time attempting to drive it around the only road course in his area... one that's definitely not designed for cars that size!
